Jailed Iranian Teacher Hospitalized in Critical State

Iranwire – Jafar Ebrahimi, a teacher imprisoned in Iran for more than a year, has been urgently transferred to hospital due to his rapidly deteriorating physical condition, the country’s Teachers Union says.

Jafar Ebrahimi was arrested on April 30, 2022, and subjected to prolonged periods of solitary confinement

Ebrahimi was arrested on April 30, 2022, and subjected to prolonged periods of solitary confinement.

On September 3, he was transferred from Tehran’s Evin prison to Ghezelhesar prison in Karaj, near the capital, alongside several other political prisoners.

Although his health deteriorated significantly while in custody, he has not received any effective medical treatment within the past few months.

“Ebrahimi has suffered inflammatory bowel disease…for an extended period. Since his transfer to Evin prison in May last year, this ailment in his body has progressively worsened to the most critical level,” his lawyer Erfan Karam Veisi has said.
