Slain Protester’s Father Arrested at Son’s Grave in Iran

Iranwire – Iranian security forces have arrested Saeed Farokhipour, father of slain protester Amir Mehdi Farokhipour, while he was visiting his son’s grave.

He went to visit his son’s grave at Behesht-e Zahra cemetery in Tehran on April 1, according to HRANA human rights news agency.

Farokhipour’s current location and the detaining entity remain unknown.

On September 27, 2022, 17-year-old Amir Mehdi Farokhipour was fatally shot by security forces during a protest in Tehran’s Laleh Park.

He succumbed to his injuries a day later.

The Islamic Republic’s authorities have been pressuring families of protest crackdown victims.

Their pressure tactics include arrests, intimidation, and job termination in an attempt to discourage lawsuits against the government.
