Police Fire at Protesters in Baluchistan; Two People Wounded

Iranwire – A child and another person have been wounded during clashes between security forces and Baluch protesters in the south-eastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan, reports say.

The moves led to escalating tensions with local residents and disrupted the traffic flow in the area

According to the Baluch Activists Campaign, a UK-based organization covering events in the province, the incident in the city of Sarbaz started after traffic police “unlawfully” impounded a passenger vehicle and imposed a fine on its owner.

The moves led to escalating tensions with local residents and disrupted the traffic flow in the area.

Police fired at protesters, inflicting injuries to a child and another individual, according to eyewitnesses and unofficial reports.

The severity of their injuries was not immediately clear.

Demonstrators gathered in front of the governor’s office, demanding accountability for those affected by the incident.

Videos shared on social media show Baluch residents protesting in the streets against police and the government.

In one clip, protesters can be seen overturning and vandalizing a traffic police vehicle.

The Baluch Activists Campaign reported that a private vehicle caught fire during the violence.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
