Regime halts Tehran concert mid-performance amid crack-down on civil liberties

In a video published on social media, a security guard is shown suddenly coming on stage while the group members were performing telling the band’s vocalist “Stop singing. We were told to halt it!”

In response to the group’s vocalist who says the concert was held with permission, the security guard says, “I don’t care about these things.”

So far, no information has been published about the details of the concert, when it was held, and the reasons for its sudden cancellation.

Bahman Babazadeh, a reporter in the field of music, said in a tweet that the concert was halted by the security officials at Tehran’s Azadi Innovation Factory.

Following the new wave of crackdown on civil liberties by the regime, several concerts have been canceled in recent weeks, including the cancellation of a concert by pop singer Sirvan Khosravi in the southwestern city of Ahvaz in mid-July. In response to this news, the director general of Khuzestan Province’s Guidance Organization said the ban on holding concerts in Ahvaz was ongoing until further notice.

The concert of traditional music singer Faraz Homai was also canceled on July 26 in Hamedan, northwestern Iran.
