Security forces in Behbahan arrested three residents

Iran-HRM – Intelligence and security forces in Behbahan arrested Mohsen Ghanavati, Payam Jaihouni, and Amin Moradi and took them to the intelligence detention center in Ahvaz and the Prison of Behbahan.

They took Mohsen Ghanavati to the Prison of Behbahan. Amin Moradi and Payam Jaihouni are in an intelligence detention center in Ahvaz, the capital of Khuzestan Province.

The security forces in Behbahan have made a large number of arrests on the anniversary of the November 2019 uprising. The intelligence services have summoned many residents to prevent ceremonies for the victims of the November 2019 uprising.

Farzaneh Ansarifar, the sister of Farzad Ansarifar who was killed during the November 2019 uprising, was briefly arrested by security forces in Behbahan and pressured to cancel memorial ceremonies for her brother. They told Ms. Ansarifar that they had orders from Ahvaz to take her to jail for inviting people to the ceremony via her stories on the Instagram. They told her that she was not allowed to hold any ceremony and that they had blocked all roads to the cemetery.

The internet has been slowed down in Behbahan. To prevent holding of ceremonies for the victims of the November 2019 uprising, Behbahan municipality’s public relations and the City Council have issued a statement, announcing that the road leading to Behbahan’s cemetery is under construction and the road is blocked.

More than 1,500 protesters were killed during the bloody crackdown on the November 2019 protests across Iran. Iranian security forces regularly inspected hospitals, rounded up injured protesters and the bodies of the dead. They also refrained from handing over the bodies to their families. They only did so on the condition that the family did not hold a funeral and buried their loved ones in silence and solitude.

The Iranian regime has yet to publish the death toll of Iran protests and the number of protesters killed by security forces. Fearing domestic and international consequences over its crime against humanity, the regime is has refused to publish the number of those arrested and imprisoned as well.
