Iranwire – Iranian security forces have arrested four Sunni Muslim religious scholars in the city of Urmia, according to reports from Sunni rights groups.
Kalameh news website, which covers news related to Iran’s Sunni minority, identified the detained clerics as Molavi Shamsuddin Motahari, Molavi Gol Mohammad Mansouri, Molavi Hossein Ahmad Shahidi, and Molavi Fazel Moradi.
Kalameh said the four men were taken into custody last Wednesday without being presented with any court order for their arrests.
They are professors at the Hanafi seminary in Razavi Khorasan province and had traveled to western Iran.
Their current whereabouts and any charges against them remain unknown.
