Iranian Woman Murdered by Husband Amid Rising Femicide Rates

Iranwire – A young woman in Tehran was murdered by her husband during a domestic argument, according to reports.

The motive of the murder is cited as family disputes.

Following the victim’s disappearance, the husband initially reported her missing to the police.

However, after inconsistencies in his story were identified, he confessed to the crime.

He claimed he strangled his wife during an argument and hid the body for several days before burying it outside Tehran.

This incident highlights the ongoing issue of femicide in Iran.

Human rights groups reported at least 50 cases in the past 100 days, with 20 percent attributed to “honor killings.”

Shargh newspaper, in a report citing official statistics last year, reported that in less than two years, at least 165 women in Iran were killed by a male member of their family, 41 of which were around the capital, Tehran.
