Three political suspects from the same family and one citizen have been sentenced to eleven years in prison

Iran-HRM – On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, four Tehran citizens named Nasrollah Falahi, his children Ardavan and Arghavan Falahi, along with Parvin Mirasan, were collectively sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment. These four political prisoners were detained in a joint case related to the nationwide protests of 2022.

According to reports received by Iran Human Rights Monitor (Iran HRM), Parvin Mirasan, 67 years old, and Nasrollah Falahi, 66 years old, were sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, under the presidency of Judge Iman Afshari. Parvin Mirasan was sentenced to 4 years in prison, Nasrollah Falahi was sentenced to 4 years in prison, Arghavan Falahi, 22 years old, was sentenced to 2 years in prison, and Ardavan Falahi, 24 years old, was sentenced to 1 year in prison. In total, they were sentenced to 11 years of imprisonment.

Earlier, Erfan Karam Veisi, the defense lawyer for Parvin Mirasan and the Falahi family, had stated: “Mrs. Mirasan is charged in a joint case with the members of the Falahi family with ‘waging war against God,’ ‘spreading corruption on earth through extensive actions against the country,’ and ‘participating in gatherings and conspiracies to commit crimes.’”

According to Mr. Karam Veisi, the charges of “waging war against God” and “spreading corruption on earth” have been removed from the list of charges against the Falahi family, and a non-prosecution order has been issued regarding these charges. Nasrollah Falahi and Arghavan Falahi are now facing charges of “propaganda against the system,” “participating in gatherings and conspiracies to commit crimes against internal and external security,” and “membership in groups opposing the system,” issued by Branch 6 of the Evin Court. Ardavan Falahi, on the other hand, is charged with “participation in propaganda against the system.”

Parvin Mirasan, 67 years old, was detained during the nationwide protests in November 2022 and was initially transferred to Adel Abad Prison in Shiraz. Later, she was relocated to Tehran and sent to the women’s ward of Evin Prison in March of the same year.

Nasrollah Falahi and his daughter Arghavan were also detained in November 2022. Ardavan, another child of Mr. Falahi, was also arrested for participating in protests in Isfahan. They were transferred to Evin Prison in February 2022.

It should be noted that Parvin Mirasan and Nasrollah Falahi are currently serving their sentences at Evin Prison. Arghavan and Ardavan Falahi, who were previously released on bail, have completed their sentences considering the days spent in detention and will not be returning to prison.
