Roadside Bomb Kills One in Southeastern Iran

Iranwire -Iranian authorities say one person was killed in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan as he and an accomplice attempted to plant a roadside bomb near a police station.

Provincial prosecutor Mehdi Shamsabadi said that the act of “terrorism” occurred in the city of Bampur on February 28.

According to IranWire sources, the target was the office of a candidate for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Shamsabadi said that the bomb detonated prematurely, killing one of the individuals while his accomplice “fled the scene.”

The official claimed that both individuals had entered the country from abroad.

Sistan and Baluchistan is prone to violence, especially from the Sunni militant group Jaish al Adl.

In November last year, an attack on police in Bampur killed one officer and injured four others.
