Tehran Says Israel Responsible for “Plot” Against Pipelines

Iranwire – Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji has said that Israel was behind last week’s attack on Iranian gas pipelines.

Owji initially referred to the blasts that struck two major natural gas pipelines in Fars and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces on February 14 as "sabotage and terrorist attacks,” but he stopped short of publicly blaming Israel or any other culprit

“This was a plot orchestrated by the Israelis,” Owji told reporters on February 21. “The enemy’s aim was to disrupt domestic gas supplies in major provinces,” he added.

Israeli authorities usually do not comment on overseas operations.

Owji initially referred to the blasts that struck two major natural gas pipelines in Fars and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces on February 14 as “sabotage and terrorist attacks,” but he stopped short of publicly blaming Israel or any other culprit.

The two explosions disrupted gas supplies in at least five provinces, but the oil minister declared that repairs were completed quickly, “minimizing the disruptions in cities and villages.”
