Etemad newspaper reported on February 20 that the man, identified as 22-year-old Bahram, witnessed his sister’s death at the hands of their father, an event that “sparked deep-seated anger and resentment in him.”

It said the gunman shot his parents, three brothers, two sisters, a brother-in-law, and four nephews in the city of Faryab.

Initial reports, including statements from the head of the justice department of the province of Kerman, differed in key details. 

They said the gunman was aged 30 and that the shooting took place in the village of Mazraeh Imam, near Faryab.
