Three Iranian Political Activists Sentenced to Years in Prison

Iranwire – The Court of Appeal of Tehran Province has upheld the prison terms of three political activists incarcerated in Tehran’s Evin prison.

Behfar Laleh Zari and his wife Rezvaneh Ahmad Khan Beigi are facing five years’ imprisonment on charges of “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic,” according to the activist HRANA news agency.

Mohsen Haji Mohammadi received a four-year prison sentence for “assembly and collusion against national security.”

The trio was detained in Tehran on September 17, 2023, by the Islamic Republic’s security forces.

Mohammadi has said that they were subjected to physical assault by plainclothes officers during their arrests.
