Baha’i Woman Living in UAE Arrested in Shiraz

Iranwire – A Baha’i woman residing in the United Arab Emirates has been detained by intelligence agents in the Iranian city of Shiraz while visiting her ailing parents.

Roya Sabet’s current whereabouts and status remain unknown.

An informed source told IranWire that Sabet traveled to Iran on January 4 to care for her elderly parents who are both suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

Her mother recently suffered a serious back injury.

On January 23, eight agents, initially claiming to be municipal authorities, entered the home of Sabet’s parents with a search warrant.

They searched the property and interrogated Sabet and her relatives.

The officers then proceeded to search the residence of her siblings, Mehrdad and Felora Sabet, without a warrant.

The source further stated that the intelligence officers spent eight hours at the family home, confiscating personal belongings including mobile phones, travel documents and identification cards.

They informed Sabet that she was banned from travel and instructed her to await a summons from the Shiraz Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office.

Following multiple summonses, Sabet was detained on February 15. Her current location and the charges she faces remain unclear.
