Iranian Authorities Refuse to Hand Over Bodies of Four Executed Prisoners

Iranwire – Iranian authorities have informed the families of four Kurdish political prisoners executed this week that they would bury the bodies themselves “in an undisclosed location.”

“The oppressive regime of the Islamic Republic has obstructed the handover of our loved ones’ bodies, notifying the families that they intend to bury them in an undisclosed location,” Joanna Taimasi, the wife of an executed prisoner, Mohsen Mazloum, wrote on the social media platform X.

On January 29, authorities hanged Mazloum, Mohammad Faramarzi, Wafa Azarbar and Pejman Fatehi — all under the age of 30 — who had been sentenced to death for allegedly plotting a bombing in Isfahan last summer in collaboration with Israel.

Rights groups have widely disputed the accusations and said the men were sentenced in a grossly unfair trial marred by allegations of torture and other ill-treatment.
