Tehran Says It Possesses “Israel-Hitting” Missiles

Iranwire – The spokesman for the Iranian Defense Ministry has used a ceremony to hail the capabilities of the locally-developed long-range surface-to-air system named Bavar-373, saying it has been primarily designed to hit Israeli targets over Palestinian territory.

Tehran Says It Possesses “Israel-Hitting” Missiles

“Today, we possess missiles which we have facetiously named ‘Israel-hitting missiles’ as their primary target is the occupied territories,” spokesman Reza Talai-Nik said on September 24 during a ceremony in Kobodar Ahang, Hamedan province.

The Tasnim news agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), released information about the missile, saying that it measures 11 meters in length, weighs seven tons and has a maximum payload of 500 kilograms.

Israel, which considers a nuclear-armed Iran to be an existential threat, has repeatedly said all options are on the table to prevent the Islamic Republic from getting atomic weapons.

In his September 23 speech before the UN General Assembly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tehran “must face a credible nuclear threat” to deter it from obtaining such weapons. His office quickly retracted the statement, saying he had meant to say “credible military threat.”

“When I last spoke at this podium five years ago, I warned about the tyrants of Tehran. They have been nothing but a curse – a curse to their own people, to our region, to the entire world,” Netanyahu also said in New York.
