Police Beat Relatives of Protest Detainees

Iranwire – Iranian police officers in the capital have brutally assaulted families who came to inquire about the condition of their loved ones detained during yesterday’s protests on the one-year anniversary of the death of Mahsa Amini in custody.

The families had gathered outside the Greater Tehran Police Command when they were attacked and beaten.

Protests erupted yesterday in cities across Iran, including Tehran, Sanandaj, Mahabad, Rasht, Mashhad, Lahijan and Arak last night. 

Government agents forcefully arrested many demonstrators, including a 15-year-old boy, Kavan Rezaei. 

Rezaei was taken into custody by forces of the Sanandaj Intelligence Department in Kurdestan province and has been moved to an undisclosed location.

Images captured outside police stations show numerous families of detainees anxiously awaiting updates on their relatives’ status in several cities today.
