During a phone call, the 45-year-old activist told her family that she initiated a hunger strike while in solitary confinement to protest her “illegal” detention, her sister Narges Seidali said.

“If I’m unable to call again, please know that I’m under immense pressure, but I will not be accepting forced confession.” she quoted her sister as saying.

Narges Seidali said the authorities had rejected the family’s chosen lawyer to defend her sister.

Mahvah Seidali, from Khuzestan province, was arrested on June 21 along with several other activists using the Clubhouse platform, including Alireza Abdi, Daniyal Amin, Sarvenaz Misaghian, Mustafa Nouri, Farhang Azadmanesh and Amir Akhawan.

They were subsequently transferred to Ward 209 of Tehran’s Evin prison.

The security institutions of the Islamic Republic have not provided any explanation for the arrests, and there is currently no available information regarding the charges they are facing.
