Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) – Sarkout Ahmadi, a Kurdish political prisoner sentenced to death for charges of “moharebeh (enmity against god) through membership of Komeleh and murder of a policeman,” was secretly executed in Kermanshah Central Prison.
According to Iran Human Rights, a Kurdish political prisoner was secretly executed in Kermanshah Prison on February 22. His identity has been established as Sarkout (Arash) Ahmadi who was sentenced to death for charges of “moharebeh (enmity against god) through membership of Komeleh and murder of a policeman.”
An informed source told Iran Human Rights: “Sarkout Ahmadi was from Ravansar and had been a member of the Komeleh Party of Iranian Kurdistan before leaving the party. In December 2020, he was arrested at the Iran-Turkey border while trying to leave the country.”
“In January 2021, The IRGC Ground Forces’ Ashraf Camp issued a statement that said they’d arrested someone for the death of a policeman called Hassan Maleki. But Sarkout Ahmadi always maintained his innocence about the murder.”
It is not clear whether he was executed for murder charges or that of moharebeh.
The Kurdish political prisoner was executed without his family being notified, depriving him of the right to a last visit.
At the time of writing, his execution has not been reported by domestic media or officials in Iran.
At least four political prisoners have been executed in Iranian prisons in 2023.
