Kurdish Pharmacist, Labor Activist Arrested In Iran; Whereabouts Unknown

Iranwire – Iranian security forces have arrested a Kurdish pharmacist who had published videos on his Instagram page about how to treat people injured during protests, IranWire reports.

Shooresh Heidari was detained at his home in Bukan, West Azerbaijan province, without being presented a court order or the charge against him, an informed source said. The security agents confiscated some of Heidari’s personal belongings, including his computer and mobile phone, and took him to an unknown location.

The same source also said that a Kurdish labor activist, Amir Shahabi, was arrested in front of the governor’s office in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan province, and was taken to an unknown location.

There was no information about the reason behind the arrest and the charges against the activist.

In 2017, Shahabi was detained on International Labor Day by forces affiliated with Sanandaj’s intelligence agency.
