Iranwire – A court in Mahshahr has sentenced Farzaneh Ansarifar, sister of slain protesters Farzad to 4.5 years of prison for demanding justice for her brother, killed during the 2019 protests.
According to the verdict issued by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Mahshahr, Farzaneh Ansarifar was sentenced to four years and six months in prison on charges of “conspiracy against national security and propaganda against the state.”
If the verdict is upheld, she would have to serve three years and six months behind bars according to Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, which allows defendants to serve only the longest sentence in cases involving multiple convictions.
Farzad Ansarifar, a 27-year-old construction worker was killed by security forces on November 16, 2019, at a protest against the increase in the price of gasoline in the city of Behbahan in Khuzestan Province. He was struck by a bullet behind his head.
Over 1500 men, women and children were killed during the protests.
The First Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Mahshahr had previously examined the case of Farzaneh Ansarifar on November 8, 2021.
She has been prosecuted for demanding justice for her brother, Farzad.
She was arrested during a peaceful protest in Behbahan on July 16, 2020. She was subsequently transferred to the Sepidar Prison of Ahvaz and released temporarily on bail on July 24, 2020. As a member of the families of the victims of the November 2019 uprising, the clerical regime is fabricating a case against her.
Amin Ansarifar, Farzaneh’s father, was arrested on Saturday, February 19, 2022, after his testimony before the people’s court in London, known as the Aban tribunal, investigating the crackdown on the November 2019 uprising.
One day after her father’s arrest, security forces arrested her brother, Arman. Farzaneh was inquiring about their situation when she received a beating from security guards in the Prosecutor’s Office.
After her father and brother’s arrest, the regime security forces battered Farzaneh Ansarifar on February 21, 2022, in the Behbahan Prosecutor’s Office.
Former political prisoner Arash Sadeghi tweeted that Farzaneh Ansarifar’s body was visibly bruised, and she had been hurt in the shoulder.
The Iranian regime authorities have steppet up pressure on the families of the November 2019 victims.
