Iran-HRM – Four Arab activists living in the port of Mahshahr, in southwest Khuzestan Province, have been accused of secessionism. The four Arab activists were only involved in collecting aid for victims in flood stricken areas.
On Tuesday, December 15, 2020, the state-run Tasnim news agency reported from Ahvaz of the arrests of four citizens in the Port of Mahshahr. The report said those arrested by intelligence forces were members of dissident and secessionist groups who disturbed public opinion through their work in the social media. They were accused of calling for illegal and armed gatherings.
Tasnim wrote, “These individuals had disseminated fake news and published inciting video clips and footages in the social media about the protests in November 2019. They attempted to disturb public opinion and encourage citizens particularly young people to hold gatherings and armed riots.”
The report said: “This group had issued numerous calls on social media to hold gatherings over recent floods in a bid to recruit more members for these groups and networks.”
The Iranian Intelligence institutions are working to file cases containing false charges to prepare the grounds for the arrest, detention and execution of Ahvazi activists.
