Political Prisoner Detained For 18 Years Without Prison Leave

iran-hrm – The condition of political prisoner Saeed Shah Ghaleh, who was imprisoned for 18 years without a single day of leave, is reportedly very poor.
Saeed Shah Ghaleh has been deprived of the right to access a lawyer of his choosing, regular family visits, have books or access to media outlets and furlough.

Shah Ghaleh was arrested in 2000 and sentenced to death on charge of Moharebeh (enmity against God) through collaborating with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The death sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment.

On April 17, 2014, he was among the group of prisoners assaulted by prison when the guards attacked section 350 of notorious Evin Prison, leaving many prisoners injured. The incident became known as “Black Thursday.”
After the attack, Saeed Shah Ghaleh was transferred to solitary confinement in Section 240.

Subsequently he was banished to Mahshahr Prison Khuzestan province, southwest Iran where he has been detained ever since.
