Shabtabnews – Nearly eight months have passed since the illegal house arrest of Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh, the spiritual leader of Gonabadi Sufis.
Dr Tabandeh is deprived of urgent medical attention and the opportunity to meet his followers, as all access to him is strictly controlled by the Iranian security forces and thus he has no freedom to leave his house or to receive visitors.
International Organisation to preserve human rights (IOPHR), the International Human Rights Defenders Association, the Centre for Dignity, and Human Rights Without Borders, together with other activists, have called for the end of Dr Tabandeh’s detention through a Twitter campaign on Friday 12th October, between 18:30-19:30 GMT under #FreeTabandeh tag.
This campaign is organised by IOPHR, a day before the 91st birthday of Dr Tabandeh, as to raise awareness of Dr Tabandeh’s eighth month house arrest by the Iranian authorities.
