40 Lawyers Call On Iran To Halt Execution Of Kurdish Political Prisoner

Iran-HRM – 40 judiciary lawyers in Iran are requesting the execution of Kurdish political prisoner Ramin Hossein Panahi to be halted.

It was written in their letter that we are on the eve of Eid al- Fitr, (religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting) the Kurdish regions of Iran are requesting for a grave and diligent hearing on the case of Ramin Hossein Panahi, a Kurdish citizen who has been sentenced to death in Sanandaj Central Prison under the charges of raping and violating others rights. They have emphasized in the letter that he does not deserve to be executed, as he deserves patience and tolerance.

Ramin Hossein Panahi was arrested in Sanandaj on June 23, 2017, and sentenced to death at the first branch of Sanandaj Revolutionary Court for raping and violating others rights. The vote for the verdict was confirmed at Branch 39 of the Supreme Court. (The state-run Isna News Agency- June 13, 2018)
