Latest updates regarding Gonabadi Dervishes in Iran and the house arrest of Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh the spiritual master of the Sufi order

Following previous events on the recent persecution and attacks on the Gonabadi Dervishes in Iran, specifically those in the Seventh Golestan region of Pasdaran in Tehran, which is the residential area of the spiritual head of this Sufi Order, Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh, here are the latest updates regarding the deterioration of this critical situation.

It has been over 42 days since the house arrest of Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh (starting at 20th of February 2018), during which several police officers have been stationed outside as well as inside the privacy of his house. The Iranian Regime is viciously targeting Dr. Tabandeh by forcefully imprisoning him in his house, cutting all forms of communications to and from him. At the age of 91, Dr. Tabandeh is suffering from severe leg pains and is in need of full-time assistance and medical care. Despite this, as of 18th March, the Security Forces have forced out all his trusted companions, his personal Doctor, and care assistance to evacuate his house, leaving Mr. Tabandeh unaccompanied with no assistance. He is being denied critical care within the confines of his own house, where he is under complete house arrest.

As explained, the Iranian Regime and Police Forces have created a situation of solitary confinement for Mr. Tabandeh. The intention of the Iranian regime is to keep him imprisoned for as long as possible, depriving him of his most basic needs creating physical, emotional, psychological and medical distress which would impact his life. This is a planned operation by the Iranian regime to silently murder Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh by letting him die in isolation, thus making it easy to eradicate all 8 million Dervishes in Iran, in a nationwide ethnic cleanse operation; an operation which has been overtly expressed by the Iranian Regime on numerous accessions.

Dr. Tabandeh has always been a champion of peace and tolerance, bringing together diverse groups in harmony, and tirelessly serving the community all his life. He is now being denied his basic fundamental rights and the necessary medical care and support and is falsely imprisoned in his own home. We sincerely ask you to please help create international awareness on this critical situation, that will rapidly deteriorate if not addressed at an international scale. We ask President Rouhani to take immediate action to put an end to the injustices and human rights violations taking place, ordering the immediate release of Dr. Noor Ali Tabandeh from house arrest.
