‘Bodyguard’ by Iranian director Ebrahim Hatamikia wins top prizes at VIFF 2017

PayvandNews – ‘Bodyguard’ directed by Iranian filmmaker Ebrahim Hatamikia won Best Art Direction, Best Supporting Actor (for Babak Hamidian), and Best Director award at the 3rd Vienna Independent Film Festival (VIFF 2017) in Austria. ‘Forgiveness’ by Iran’s Rima Irani also won Best Short Film Award at the festival.



Bodyguard (2016)

‘Bodyguard’ tells the story of a middle-aged man who protects high-ranking political figures. However, he gets into trouble when a suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest approaches the vice president for whom he is head of protection team.

Vienna Independent Film Festival appreciates films made with a unique artistic vision, as well as free spirit, new ideas, independent point of view, new approaches, individuality and experimentation. The festival aims at finding “new talented filmmakers who will be able to approach the heights of cinematography created by geniuses like Antonioni, Fellini, Tarkovsky, Bergman, Visconti, Godard.”

The third edition of VIFF was held on 3-7 July 2017 in Vienna, Austria.
