35th Fajr Film Festival in Tehran: 140 films from 58 countries, 350 guests from 66 countries

PayvandNews -The 35th edition of Fajr International Film Festival will take place from 21 to 28 April in Tehran, screening 140 film titles from 58 countries.

Well over 350 guests from 66 countries will attend the 35th Fajr Internatioanl Film Festival (FIFF) in Tehran.  Speaking to reporters, the festival spokesperson Alireza Shojanouri said there will be appearances from 31 Asian, 23 European, and 6 African countries. At least 5 special guests from the American continent and Australia will also participate. There will be celebrity guests from 24 Muslim nations as well.

Shojanouri explained that the guests come in different groups, mainly A-list directors, screenwriters, actors, special effects gurus, producers, festival managers, film buyers, and film sellers.

Young movie talents under the age of 27 will also participate in the event. Half of them are from Iran (55 trainees) and the rest from regional and Asian countries. They will take part in weeklong film workshops entitled ‘Darol Fonoun’.

In conclusion, the spokesperson noted that the festival’s International Club has well over 15,000 registered members. Club membership is going up steadily; members can reserve tickets online and at discount prices, or make selections in advance to take part in special screening programs.

35th FIFF to screen 140 films from 58 countries

The 2017 Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) has announced the screening program in various sections, and the lineup is already full of potential.

Some 140 short and feature-length movies of all genres from 58 countries are taking part in this year’s edition. According to the Secretariat of the annual event, the lineup is as follows:

Iran: 35 films; France: 17 films; Spain, Russia, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Turkey: 6 films; United States, China, Latvia, and Poland: 4 films; Czech Republic: 3 films; Egypt, Estonia, Argentina, Bulgaria, Myanmar, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Mexico, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, and Britain: 2 films.

Countries with one movie participating are: Australia, The Netherlands, Belgium, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Croatia, Brazil, Colombia, Cambodia, Ecuador, Moldova, Indonesia, Iraq, Canada, Jordan, Finland, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nigeria, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Ukraine, and United Arab Emirates.

There will be joint production features in the Competition section as well. Now in its 35th year, the festival is attended by many film makers and stars, and is a popular venue for film producers to launch their new films and attempt to sell their works to the distributors who come from all over the globe.
