Families Commemorate Victims of Mass-Executions of Summer 1988 in Khavaran

HRANA News Agency – Some survivors and families of political prisoners who were executed in summer 1988, gathered in Khavaran cemetery for the 28th anniversary of this massacre and commemorated their beloved family members and friends by laying flowers and singing songs. Security forces asked them to leave after a while.


According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), a group of survivors and families of political prisoners who were executed in summer 1988, gathered in Khavaran cemetery and commemorated their beloved ones and friends by laying flowers and singing songs, as it was performed during past decades.

An informed source told HRANA that some poems from Shamloo, Siavash Kasraei and Fereydoon Moshiri and the Khavaran song were song on Friday, and said, “attendees came from 7-8 am but security forces asked them respectfully to leave at around 9:30 am; of course they took pictures”.

Another source told HRANA’s reporter, “This year a voice from a mother and her cries were filled the ambient and everyone were outrageous. She was saying that for years she was looking for a sign or indication from her child. Few nights before she dreamed that the burial location of her child was close to the wall and now at least she knows where her child has been buried”.
