Young Trader in Critical Condition After Being Shot by Iranian Forces

Samran Mokhberi, a 25-year-old Kurdish trader from Sardasht in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province, remains in critical condition one week after being shot by members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to a report from the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on June 13 when Mokhberi was suspected of carrying contraband goods.

IRGC forces directly opened fire on his vehicle while he was driving, striking him in the back.

The bullet penetrated Mokhberi’s body, causing severe damage to his lungs.

He initially underwent surgery at the Khomeini Hospital in Urmia. However, due to the gravity of his injuries, he is scheduled to be transferred to Milad Hospital in the same city for further treatment.

Mokhberi’s life-threatening condition has taken immense psychological and physical toll on his family, including his child and pregnant wife, the human rights group said.
