Iran’s Presidential Race Neck and Neck Before Runoff: Poll

Iranwire – A new poll by the Iranian Students Polling Agency (ISPA) suggests a tight race in the upcoming runoff stage of Iran’s presidential election, with an estimated 45 per cent voter turnout.

The poll, conducted on July 3, indicates that Masoud Pezeshkian holds a narrow lead over his opponent, Saeed Jalili.

Pezeshkian is projected to receive 49.5 per cent of the vote, while Jalili trails slightly with 43.9 per cent of the vote. Additionally, 4.8 per cent of respondents remain undecided.

The poll, which targeted Iranians over 18 years old in both urban and rural areas, has a margin of error of ±2 per cent.

Iran will hold a run-off presidential election on July 5 after neither of the top candidates secured more than 50 per cent of the votes in Friday’s polls.

According to the final results released by the ministry, with more than 24 million people voting, moderate lawmaker Masoud Pezeshkian and hardliner Saeed Jalili qualified for the runoff election.
