Israeli Missile Strike Targets Syrian Military Installations

Iranwire – Israel launched missile strikes targeting several military installations outside the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Tuesday, according to Syria’s defense ministry.

The ministry claimed they intercepted some missiles with their air defense systems, resulting only in “material damage.”

This latest strike comes amidst heightened regional tensions following the Hamas attacks on Israel in October last year.

Since December, several Israeli attacks have targeted Syria, with a focus on Iranian-backed facilities and personnel.

Iran is a key supporter of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.

Israel’s strikes aim to curb Iran’s expanding military influence in the region.

According to a February report by Reuters, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has reduced deployments of senior officers in Syria, opting to rely more heavily on allied militias to maintain their presence.
