Iranwire – A day after the one-year anniversary of Mahsa Amini’s death in custody, heavily armed forces are still patrolling her home town of Saqqez and helicopters are hovering overhead.
Forces are stationed in Azadi, Enghelab, Qods, Zindan, Vahdat and Karimabad squares and University Town, where Amini’s parents’ house is located.
As people are back to work after a day-long strike, military vehicles sometimes cause traffic jams, especially in the city centre, IranWire sources reported.
Security forces and motorcycle units are conducting manoeuvres in groups of 15 and 20 officers inside the city.
Activists and ordinary citizens have been arrested or summoned by security authorities in recent days, while cities have experienced a significant slowdown in internet speed.
