Iranwire – Individuals donning uniforms of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) violently attacked a group of Iranian tourists in a northern mountainous area early on July 20, according to information obtained by IranWire.
“At around one o’clock in the morning, while the tourists were preparing to sleep after a touristic tour in the Opart area, over 30 IRGC officers on four-wheeled motorcycles and unmarked cars stormed the site,” said a source with knowledge of the matter.
The officers viciously assaulted the tourists using batons and stun guns, repeatedly accusing them of consuming alcohol while reveling during the Shia month of Muharram.
Eyewitnesses said that the attackers destroyed all the equipment belonging to the tourists and
tore down their tents, as “terrified” women and children screamed and cried.
Despite their searches, the attackers did not find anything that could incriminate the tourists.
Witnesses said that the IRGC agents had a doctor with them who provided medical aid to the injured tourists and advised them to seek further treatment in hospital.
