Ten Members of ‘Terrorist Network’ Arrested in West Azerbaijan, Intelligence Ministry Claims

Iranwire – Iran’s Ministry of Information has announced the arrest of 10 people in northwest Iran who, a statement claimed, were “members of a terrorist network”.

The detainees were described as being part of “multiple cells” with “various and complex missions to destroy, blow up and besiege vital economic centers and facilities, to create roadblocks, and to extort money from people, especially successful local entrepreneurs.”

The Ministry also claimed that the “epicenter” of the group’s activities had been in Iraqi Kurdistan, and they had entered Iran via the West Azerbaijan border.

They were said to have been found with “advanced communications technology and all kinds of individual weapons including RPGs, grenades, TNT and ammunition”.
