Netanyahu Hints Israel Might Be Behind Attacks In Iraq

radiofarda – In his first reaction to mysterious attacks on arms and ammunition depots of pro-Iranian militia in Iraq, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday hinted that Israel might be responsible.

Netanyahu who was visiting Ukraine told reporters at his hotel that “Iran has no immunity, anywhere”.

In the past one month, at least in two instances bases belonging to Hashd al-Shaabi in Iraq have been hit, causing explosions and casualties. No one has taken responsibility.

Netanyahu added that Iran threatens Israel and has become much more aggressive since the 2015 nuclear agreement. “We will act — and currently are acting — against them, wherever it is necessary,” he warned.

The latest incident came on August 12, when a base near Baghdad was hit with huge explosions shaking the capital city. Iraqi officials hinted that Israel might be behind the attack.

The facility stored short-range and Katyusha rockets, a security source told Reuters. The fire set off some of the rockets which struck neighborhoods several kilometers away and injuring mainly children, said Qasim al-Attabi, a spokesman for the district’s health directorate.

Israeli officials view Iraq as a potential growing base for Iran proxies to target the Jewish state.
