Iran: Measures Taken In Kurdistan To Ban Nowruz Celebrations

Iran-HRM – Government bodies in Kurdistan have started measures to prevent Nowruz celebrations in Kurdistan. According to reports, a few days ago, the police base in the Janvaeh region in Marivan summoned the heads of councils and villages warning them that they should not hold special Nowruz celebrations in the villages.

Iran: Baha’i Couple Sentenced To Five Years Of Prison

Iran-HRM – Roheih Nariman and Farzad Delaram, a Baha’i couple residing in Shiraz, were each sentenced to five years of prison on charges of “spreading propaganda against the government” and “membership in the illegal Baha’i group” by the 1st Branch of the Shiraz Revolutionary Court presided over by Judge Sadati. The couple are parents to a young child and a teenager.

Iran: Death Row Hunger Striking Minor Offender Beaten By Prison Agents

Iran-HRM – Detained minor offender, Mohammad Salehi, who has been sentenced to death and is detained in Mahabad Prison went on hunger strike ten days ago in protest to the violation of his rights in his case proceedings.  He is currently being kept in solitary confinement and was beaten because he refused to end his strike.

Iran: Baha’i Student Expelled From University In Rasht

Iran-HRM – Baha’i student Vesal Heravi, was expelled before starting his fourth term at a university in Rasht due to his religious beliefs. He was verbally informed that the Education Evaluation Organization had not confirmed his academic qualification and that his expulsion was upon orders of the Ministry of Intelligence.
