‘Parsijoo’ most used search engine in Iran after Google

PayvandNews – Iranian search engine ‘Parsijoo’ is the most used search engine in Iran after Google, head of the Steering Committee of the project ‘Domestic Search Engines’ said Monday.

Alireza Yari, head of the Steering Committee of the project ‘Domestic Search Engines’ told Mehr News correspondent on Monday that Iranian internet citizens are slowly moving toward using domestic search engines more and more each day, adding “for expediting the trend, we need to put the project out there and create a competitive advantage in the market and facilitate access to government sources.”

“Our proposals have been approved by National Center for Cyberspace, but they haven’t become operational in the form of instructions,” he said. “We estimate that the instructions will become operational in the next few months.”

Yari went on to add, “based on studies conducted by Institute of Communications and Information Technology, Parsijoo Search Engine ranks second after Google in Iran, and is followed by Bing and another Iranian search engine ‘Yooz’.”

“The figures are related to Iranians’ use of text search engines; although the ratio for the use of this domestic search engine is one to 100, the trend is increasing,” he said.

“At the moment, Parsijoo Search Engine has 600,000 hits and about 120,000 searches per day. For ‘Yooz’ search engine, the figures are over 100,000 hits and more than 60,000 searchers per day,” he said.
