Hailstorms Ravage Western Iran, Devastate Agriculture

Iranwire – Hailstorms and heavy rain caused significant damage to agricultural products in the western Iranian provinces of Ilam and Kermanshah on Wednesday.

Agricultural authorities in Dehloran confirmed damage to wheat and rapeseed fields due to the hailstorm.

The full extent of the damage is still being assessed due to limited visibility after the storm.

The Director of Dehloran’s Agricultural Department added, “The heavy hailstorm on April 10 significantly impacted wheat and canola fields in Dehloran, which were nearing harvest.”

The governor of Kermanshah province, speaking to IRNA, reported that strong winds, reaching 65 km/h, and an unstable weather system accompanied by hail damaged the fruit trees.

Approximately 100 hectares of orchards were affected.

The governor further stated that agricultural experts are evaluating the financial losses.

He specified that peach and green tomato orchards suffered the most impact.

Additionally, some vehicles parked in the agricultural fields and orchards were also damaged by the hail.
