Iranian Civil Activist Raises Alarm After Home Search

Iranwire – Fayegh Yousefi, an Iranian civil activist and former political prisoner, says intelligence agents have raided his home in the western town of Saqqez, in Kurdistan province.

In a video published by the Hengaw human rights organization, Yousefi said that he received a call from the 11th Police Station in Saqqez, claiming that he had committed a traffic violation which caused damages.

Suspecting a hoax, he requested a delay and left his house.

Shortly afterward, on December 14, a group of 15 individuals in plainclothes stormed his home and conducted a thorough search.

Yousefi, a member of the Saqqez Eagle climbing group, said that he is currently in good health. He held the Saqqez Intelligence Department responsible for any harm that befalls him.

The activist was arrested in 2018 and initially sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Saqqez Revolutionary Court.

The sentence was reduced to six months on appeal. Yousefi served his term in Saqqez Central Prison.
