Ceremony Held for Iranian Boy Killed in Protest One Week Early

Iranwire – The family of Kian Pirfalak, a nine-year-old Iranian boy who was killed during nationwide protests, held a remembrance ceremony at his gravesite one week before the one-year anniversary of his death.

Kian’s parents, Mahmonir Molaei-Rad and Maysam Pirfalak, gathered at his tomb on November 9, alongside other relatives and friends, amid heavy security presence.

Videos and photos shared on social media show the mourners offering their condolences.

In one footage, Kian’s mother is seen kneeling and weeping.

Kian was shot and killed by government forces during protests in the city of Izeh on November 16, 2022, sparking outrage inside and outside Iran.

The boy became a symbol of the brutality of the Iranian government’s crackdown on dissent.

His family’s decision to hold the remembrance ceremony one week early comes amid increased pressure by the security agencies of the Islamic Republic on the families of the victims of the government’s crackdown on dissent.

On his Instagram page, Kian’s father wrote that the ceremony was held on November 9.
