RFL/RE – A group of exiled Iranian opposition figures on February 10 pleaded for unity and an end to infighting to help recent nationwide protests in Iran against the country’s Islamic theocracy. The eight figures, including the son of the last shah, Reza Pahlavi, said they were working on a charter for a transition to a new pluralistic system that would be followed by free elections. Their call was made at a conference in the United States a day before Iran marks 44 years since the Islamic Revolution led by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
