Iran Human Rights (IHR) – A prisoner was hanged for murder charges at Shiraz prison this morning.
According to Iran Human Rights (IHR) sources, death-row prisoner Mohammad Haghighatnejad (39) was hanged on April 23, 2020, at Shiraz prison.
“Mohammad was a welder. Five years ago, amid a fight over financial matters, he pushed a man and he fell down. The man’s head hit a hard object and died,” a well-informed source told IHR.
There is a lack of a classification of murder by degree in Iran which results in issuing a death sentence for any kind of murder regardless of intensity and intent.
