Trump “Not Satisfied” with New Iranian Proposal

Iranwire – U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly dissatisfied with the Islamic Republic’s latest proposal to end the war. Regarding the reason for the U.S. President’s disapproval, the Reuters news agency reported that Tehran has requested postponing the review of its nuclear file until after the end of the conflict and the resolution of disputes related to shipping in the Persian Gulf.

According to a U.S. official, Washington believes the issue of Iran’s nuclear program must be at the center of discussions from the very beginning of negotiations; therefore, the U.S. President does not agree with this proposed framework. Based on the report, Iran has presented a multi-stage proposal through Pakistani mediation. The first step involves halting hostilities and reducing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, followed by addressing other issues, including the nuclear file.

However, U.S. officials have emphasized that without immediate attention to the nuclear program, there is no possibility of progress in the negotiations. This disagreement has diminished hopes for a rapid resumption of peace talks while simultaneously increasing concerns regarding continued disruptions to the energy market and maritime transportation in the region.
