Minister Linked to 14 Corruption Cases Says Iranians Are Ready to “Eat Dirt”

Irannwire – The information portal of the Ministry of Sport and Youth has published remarks by Minister Ahmad Dunyamali, in which he states: “The people of Iran tell us, ‘We are willing to lose our assets in war and eat dirt, but we will not give up our soil.’”

The Minister of Sport and Youth further claimed that the national sports heroes and medalists who meet with him say that the country’s true heroes are the “Revolutionary Guards” and “military forces,” not the athletes.

The name of Ahmad Dunyamali, the Minister of Sport and Youth and one of the closest managers to Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has long been linked to financial corruption cases dating back to his tenure on the Tehran City Council.

During his brief time on the Tehran City Council, Dunyamali was tied to 14 cases related to financial corruption, facing allegations such as “interference in government transactions,” “breach of trust,” “misappropriation of government property and funds,” “illegal seizure of property,” and “unauthorized use of government assets.”

Many of these cases have remained unaddressed or were closed through the intervention of Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
