Iranwire – Abolfazl Ghadyani, a political prisoner held in Evin Prison, released a message from behind bars condemning the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei as the third leader of the Islamic Republic, calling it a “disgraceful and ridiculous spectacle” and describing it as a clear attempt to entrench hereditary rule within Iran’s political system.
In his message, sent from Ward 7 of Evin Prison, Ghadyani wrote: “The puppet show of appointing Mojtaba, the dictator’s son, by a ‘fugitive’ Assembly of Experts is fundamentally scandalous and absurd.” He added that it remains unclear how such a decision was announced while members of the body were, in his words, “fleeing and in hiding.”
The political prisoner also said that Mojtaba Khamenei’s succession had effectively been arranged by his father long ago, arguing that “this scenario has been in the works for two decades.”
Ghadyani added that the appointment is neither legitimate nor lawful, because in his view the Islamic Republic itself lacks true legitimacy. He pointed to the protests that have taken place across Iran in recent years, saying they show that many people in the country openly oppose the regime.
