Iranwire – The Israeli military said on Monday, March 2, that in the opening hours of its assault on Iran it struck and killed several senior members of the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Intelligence.
In a statement published on the X platform, the Israeli army included the name of Seyyed Yahya Hamidi, the Deputy Intelligence Minister for “Israel Affairs,” in the list of those killed. The announcement claimed he was responsible for directing “terrorist activities against Jews, Western actors, and regime opponents both inside Iran and abroad.”
The statement also said that Jalal Pourhossein, described as the “Head of the Espionage Division” at the Ministry of Intelligence, was among those killed in the strike.
Officials of the Islamic Republic have not yet reacted to the news.
Iranian media had previously confirmed the death of Mohammad Baseri, another senior official of the Ministry of Intelligence, in the Israeli attack on February 26.
The Israeli military also stated that its air force targeted the central headquarters of the Ministry of Intelligence in Tehran.
