Young Theater Actor Ahmed Abbasi Shot DDead in Tehran Protests

Iranwire – Soran Mansourinia, whose brother Borhan was killed by government forces during the November 2019 protests, has shared chilling details about what happened after the death of Ahmed Abbasi, a protester from Karaj who was killed in Tehran.

Ahmed Abbasi, a young theater actor, was shot dead by security forces using live ammunition on Thursday, January 8, on Piroozi Street in Tehran.

According to Mansourinia, after being wounded, the young actor managed to reach a nearby alley. He handed his phone to a passerby and said, “Call the last person on my contact list.”

The report says that by the time his family reached Piroozi Street, Ahmed had already died. Because of the heavy security presence and the absence of ambulances, his mother held her son’s body in her arms in the alley from night until morning to stop security forces from taking his remains.

Eventually, after the body was transferred to the Kahrizak Medical Examiner’s Office, plainclothes agents took the body.

Authorities have reportedly demanded one billion tomans as “bullet money” to release the body to the family. So far, the family has been unable to pay the amount.
