Identities Confirmed of Three Injured Protesters and One Killed in Kermanshah Demonstrations

Iranwire – IranWire confirmed the identities of four people who were shot with live ammunition in Kermanshah during protests on Thursday, January 8, 2026, before internet access was cut across Iran.

According to information received by IranWire, three Yarsan citizens – Arman Fathi, Saman Nazari, and Afshar Najafi – were shot directly by security forces during the Thursday protests in the Darreh Deraz (Darreh Derij) neighborhood of Kermanshah. Another citizen, Mohammad Miri, was also shot with live ammunition that same night in a different area of the city.

Saman Nazari died after being taken to Taleghani Hospital in Kermanshah. As of the evening of Friday, January 9, Afshar Najafi remains in intensive care at the same hospital. The fate of Arman Fathi is still unknown, while Mohammad Miri has undergone surgery at Taleghani Hospital.

IranWire has learned that most of the wounded protesters were taken to Taleghani Hospital, with many reported to be in critical condition.

Sources also confirmed that on Friday, January 9, authorities imposed a heavy security presence in Oshnavieh, Sanandaj, Sarpol-e Zahab, and Kermanshah, effectively restricting all access to hospitals.

According to reports received by IranWire, as well as videos published by media outlets and on social media, Islamic Republic security forces used widespread violence against protesters in Kermanshah.

IranWire had earlier identified another injured protester in Dieselabad, Kermanshah. His name is Younes Abbasi Paamami, who was shot on Wednesday, January 7, and was also transferred to Taleghani Hospital in critical condition.
