2 Kurdish Men Related to Executed Political Prisoner Detained in Iran

iranwire – Iranian Intelligence Ministry forces have detained two Kurdish men for two weeks without family access, according to a human rights organization.

Ramin Mohammadi, 32, and Mohammad Dashti, 33, both from Alak village near Kamyaran, have been held for 14 days, and their condition and legal status remain unclear, the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported.

Both men are close relatives of Pezhman Fatehi, a Kurdish political prisoner executed on January 29, 2024, along with three other Kurdish political prisoners – Mohsen Mazloum, Vafa Azarbar, and Mohammad Faramarzi.

The bodies of all four men were never returned to their families.

The charge now attributed to Mohammadi and Dashti is “contact with a Kurdish party.”

Mohammadi was previously arrested by the Intelligence Ministry and released on temporary bail.

Dashti was previously sentenced to one year in prison for his activities and completed the sentence before being released, according to the report.

Both men were arrested at 5 a.m. on November 10 in Alak village and transferred to an Intelligence Ministry detention facility in Sanandaj.

The arrests were carried out with violence, and both men were beaten and insulted by intelligence agents.

Intelligence Ministry officials in Sanandaj insulted and threatened family members who attempted to seek information about the two men.
