iranwire – A 26-year-old man was shot and killed by police on Thursday after his vehicle failed to stop at a checkpoint on the Iranshahr road in Sistan and Baluchistan province.
Hamid Dehmordeh from Zahedan died at the scene after officers opened fire on his vehicle near Piranch village, according to human rights sources.
Officers had ordered the vehicle to stop and fired when it did not, the sources said. Bullets struck Dehmordeh, causing his death.
Human rights groups reported that at least 163 citizens were killed and 321 injured in shootings by military forces across the country in 2024.
